Lives and works in Rabat

Othmane Bengebara is an architect and conceptual artist originally from Rabat, Morocco. He studied at the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
In 2012, Bengebara exhibited a selection of his earlier works at the Wuho Gallery in Los Angeles, where he was awarded first place in the City Vision competition.
His interest in city development and society living led him to co-found the New South Collective in 2015. The association’s work is focusses on a variety of architectural concerns such as the revival of post-industrial and aims to
facilitate spaces that overcome tensions in local communities.
Since 2018, Bengebara’s work has shifted more towards his artistic practice,
allowing him to explore and experiment with new concepts such as space and time. Much of his more recents works have utilised the form of the square as a recurring element that serves as a reference point and a basic unit for
constructing space. In 2020, Bengebara introduced the use of mirrors within his work, a reconstruction of visual space and depth, it positions its audiences
within the artworks themselves.
