M'hammed Kilito i Barzakh بَرْزَخ · Entre mondes i Casa Árabe

At Casa Árabe of Madrid from 06.02.21 to 10.17.21

“Barzakh: Between worlds” is the result of collaboration between Jiser Reflexions Mediterrànies, KOZ Collective (Morocco), Collective220 (Algeria), rhizome (Algeria) and Maison de l’Image (Tunisia).

“Everything real is pure light, while the impossible is sheer darkness. Darkness never becomes light, and light never becomes darkness. The realm thus created is barzakh and lies between light and dark. In its essence, it cannot be described by darkness or light, as barzakh lies in the middle, possessing properties from both sides.

Using the definitions and reflections of this in-between world, we created the essence of our curatorial approach to this exhibition project, which includes eight artists: Zied Ben Romdhane, Souad Mani, Hakim Rezaoui, Yasmine Hatimi, Sonia Merabet, M’hammed Kilito, Toni Serra *) abu ali and Abdo Shanan.

Barzakh is a journey which invites us to discover the human condition of youths in the Maghreb and an otherness which reminds us of an inner self, a constant coming and going between the tangible and that which is linked to the subconscious and memory.”
